Organising Milongas

Recently, on the Tango-L mailing list, there has been a discussion on the hosting of milongas. Since I am also organising the weekly Wednesday practica-come-milonga* (for the differences between the two, please see Rebecca Shulman’s clear article) in Singapore, much of the discussion is directly relevant for me.

Just to remind myself for future reference, here are what I consider very helpful advice:

• arrange to have someone whose task is to dance with every lady throughout the evening;
• divide the task into a committee if the event is of significant size;
• the organiser should try to have fun too!
