Tango pics
Just saw some news about some (dead link: http://www.quilombo.nl) Tango photos on the Tango-L list. Very nice for “home pictures”, as opposed to those studio shots.
Tandas
In the spirit of sharing, I will be uploading the lists of Tango tracks for the CD compilations that I have personally made for use in our practicas. I would like to gratefully acknowledge Stephen Brown’s extremely helpful An Annotated List of Tandas which I have made extensive use of. The links should appear on the Tango section of this site soon.
Hope they will be useful for people doing their own compilations for the first time. Sorry, no mp3 downloads due to copyright issues, and yes, I do own originals of all the CDs mentioned.
Practicas
Not too long ago, was chatting to someone who had been to Taipei recently and heard some interesting information about the Tango community in Taiwan. As a result, decided to visit Tango Taiwan’s website and was quite impressed. Seems they are doing well and good luck to them!
Recent Tango workshops
Recently there has been a proliferation of Tango workshops in Singapore – 3 since mid-October in fact – each consisting of about 4-5 classes. We are indeed quite fortunate to receive all the attention, but at the same time, it also means a lot of new material to absorb. This is especially so for anyone game enough to have attended most of the classes, i.e. myself! Of course it has to be said that, given the lack of exposure to the Tango culture for those of us in Singapore, often it is a treat just to see the teachers strut their stuff. Further, these may be the few chances where we have a yardstick to measure ourselves against.
Given this influx of new information, what are we to do?
