Dancing kiddies
Since I started posting links to videos of a common theme, I thought I’d do the same again today. This time, the theme is on young dancers, and I mean young!
It all started with the clip of an improvisation to Poema mentioned here. Note that the sound level is extremely low for this clip.
Then I found another weblog also discussing young talents. She is only 6 by the way…
Tango DJing
My first experiences at DJing was during the days at Porridge Club (August 2002), where I volunteered to take up the challenge of providing danceable Tango music at, of all places, a Chinese-style cafe that sells porridge. Judging by the response week after week, I’d say it was quite successful! 🙂 This was followed by some occasional stints at Bobby Rubino’s and (more regularly) Xen Bar (early 2003) once our friend started his salsa bar**.
Evolution of the embrace
Once upon a time, all Tango dancers in Singapore danced in an open embrace.
Fast-forward to present, close embrace dancing is the norm rather than the exception during a typical milonga.
Speaking for myself, I can clearly remember the first time a girl (she was already an experienced dancer at that time) came very close to me, and this was within the first two months – no formal classes and before my first workshop – of my Tango journey, I was literally petrified! Come on, what was I supposed to do? There was simply no space to move. 🙂
Fading Buenos Aires
This is not directly Tango-related.
On the blog Buenos Aires: City of Faded Elegance, you can see many lovely shots of the once-glorious architecture of an city that has seen better days, in an aptly named series: The City That Fades Away.
