Shoes
While I am on the topic of walking, here are some good resources for shoe-hunting!
- Review of the major brands of Tango shoes (for ladies)
- Another review of the major brands of Tango shoes (for ladies)
- A list of online Tango shoe stores
ps. I will keep updating this list when I find more interesting ones.
Teaching methodology
Since starting regular Tango classes for beginners, I have had to seriously reflect on all that I have learnt: from the visiting teachers, observations on the dance floor, and my personal customization to suit my temperament and style. As probably common to many people who are starting out, occasionally you do get stumped by the simplest of things!
Take the basic yet fundamental concept of walking. You may think, as all of us have already years of practice at this, so what’s the big deal? In other words, is there anything more for you and I to learn??
An almost-great leader
Prompted by Royce’s blog entry on a great follower, I decided to jot down what I consider to be the essential qualities of a great leader. However, this is more of an extrapolation of my personal experiences, so my objective is to depict an attainable (and practical) target for leaders to aspire to. By the way, this is both my personal goal as well as what I try to convey to those whom I have had the pleasure to teach.
Tango images
This link was mentioned in the Tango-L list today. Really beautiful images of Tango: no flashy steps, no young/sexy dancers and, hey, maybe not even one person under 50 out of those photographed, but the concentration, the focus, the feelings, the essence of Tango…
These are very much the types of images I hope to be able to produce in future – not just of Tango of course. 🙂
