Where am I?
Whenever we undertake to learn a new subject, sooner or later, for all the efforts we put in (or not, as the case may be), inevitably each and every one of us is interested to know: how do we stack up? I mean, do we have far to go before we achieve some form of mastery??
Well, it seems that such a check-list may exist for Argentine Tango!? Perhaps we can all tick ourselves off against the criteria listed in these rather humorous definitions of different levels of Tango? 😉
No boundaries
To dance without being fixated in a given framework. To challenge the existing mode of thinking, of moving and old habits. Be playful with the energy and the dynamics, and create something new.
These are some thoughts which were given a boost after the recent
Taipei Tango Festival 2003
Yes, the title is correct, in case you were wondering… 🙂
I originally intended (in fact started writing way back on 29 Sept 2003) to quickly put together some thoughts of the Taipei Tango Festival immediately after the event, but, as usual, things got in the way. And before you know it, one year has passed! In case you are wondering, yes, the next edition of this Tango Festival is going ahead in September (of 2004) again.
KL sojourn
The past weekend has been a long weekend in Singapore, due to the Singaporean National Day (9 August) falling on a Monday. In view of this, a number of Singaporean tangueros and tangueras decided to go up to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, which is a mere 330 km away, to sample the milonga held on Saturday night, 7 August.
Now, while some of more organised of the group had booked coaches and accommodation in advance, sadly I was not as disciplined. I (and three other friends) made the decision to go to the milonga on Tuesday, and after some searches on the internet and quite a few unsuccessful phone calls, finally managed to secure accommodation and return transportation. And so, the trip was on!
