Forging new ties
A few of the partnerships that I have been following over the last couple of years have seen some reshuffling over the last 7-8 months, the most notable being Pablo y Noelia, Federico y Ines, Fabian y Virginia/Lorena, and finally the tragedy involving Andrea Misse.
However, after teaming up in latter half of 2011, Carlitos Espinoza is really making Noelia Hurtado shine (although she was already a good dancer to begin with) and the partnership seems to be getting better and better in my opinion. Really enjoyed this recent dance to late Biagi.
Dance personality
Just came across these recent videos of Virginia Pandolfi. I really enjoyed the way she stamped her personality throughout the dances; of course, it also requires a playful partner as she did here. I guess many will be looking forward to how her dance partnership with Javier Rodriguez will evolve in the coming months.
Some interviews
Since I have been neglecting my blog for the past couple of months, thought I’d bump up the post count before the end of 2011! 😉
Here is Part 1 (of 5) of a series of interviews (English subtitles) with tango teachers in Rosario, Argentina (map below).
Thanks to Janis for alerting me to this series.
Viejos milongueros
Just discovered this nice series of videos of various milongas in Buenos Aires in the 90’s. Since this was before the influx of tango tourists, I presume that collectively they are quite representative of the milongas in Buenos Aires back then. “No gimmicks” tango, just social gathering and self-expression.
