Forging new ties
A few of the partnerships that I have been following over the last couple of years have seen some reshuffling over the last 7-8 months, the most notable being Pablo y Noelia, Federico y Ines, Fabian y Virginia/Lorena, and finally the tragedy involving Andrea Misse.
However, after teaming up in latter half of 2011, Carlitos Espinoza is really making Noelia Hurtado shine (although she was already a good dancer to begin with) and the partnership seems to be getting better and better in my opinion. Really enjoyed this recent dance to late Biagi.
Beginners
Can’t explain why but this thought just popped into my head.
Objectively, there is really no shame to be associated with beginners – from the perspective of an organiser or teacher. If because of marketing or other technical reasons, someone needs to focus his/her efforts on beginners, a valuable contribution can still be made for contribution to the commuinty. Guilt or shame only comes into the picture when one is in fact the cause that beginners are leaving en mass for other interests! 🙂
Tango Singapore calendar
Although I am still keeping up with tango news in the blogosphere (not sure if I just made up the word!?), have not been in the mood to write anything lately.
Anyway, just a quick announcement that I will be offloading the schedule of milonga and practicas in Singapore maintained locally to a calendar site based on Google Calendar, Tango Singapore event guide. In any case, I think the calendar format is still better for keeping track of regular events, especially when there are sudden changes to a fixed event but only for a short period. By the way, there is a rudimentary version specifically for smart phones/mobile browsers too. Hopefully this can be useful to visitors to Singapore who are looking for regularly scheduled tango happenings.
Dance personality
Just came across these recent videos of Virginia Pandolfi. I really enjoyed the way she stamped her personality throughout the dances; of course, it also requires a playful partner as she did here. I guess many will be looking forward to how her dance partnership with Javier Rodriguez will evolve in the coming months.
