Return to the floor
After being away for a little more than one month from Tango due to my Dip FM project and exam, finally got a chance to dance again this Tuesday, at Xenbar.
It was good to see many new faces at the Tuesday milonguita. And, judging from the looks of concentration, they seemed keen too. Perhaps there is yet hope!? However, floorcraft (navigation, following line of dance, (in)appropriate choice of steps) is still something all of the beginners and most intermediate dancers need to continue to work on!
Quick recap
Had a busy week as far as Tango was concerned.
Firstly, there was the last of the official workshops by Esteban and Evelyn on Monday night on boleos, followed by a led practica (which was graciously accepted by Esteban) at Xenbar.
Milonga in History
Had a wonderful milonga last night at the Singapore History Museum, thanks to the organisation by Kace and decorations from Janet.
It has been a while since a milonga was organised in Singapore. Last night’s event also marked the return of Ricardo Gallo and Gladys Fernandez to Singapore. The night started with a beginner’s workshop, followed by some light refreshments and then the main event. It was well attended by between 30 to 40 people.
I can persoanlly vouch that dancing on sound-proof floorings, kindly donated by Pergo, was a wonderful experience. It was not overly slippery and the nice texture gives a very classy feel. The only gripe was that the museum closed at 12am (although this was already way after their usual closing time). 🙁 Oh well, till next time!
Tango Berlin
I was told once that, outside of Buenos Aires, Berlin is the city with the largest Tango population. Well, had some first-hand experiences recently when I visited my friend Christine in Berlin.
